New York, NY, June 1, 2009 … The number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States declined for the fourth consecutive year, according to newly issued statistics from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The League’s annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, issued today, counted a total of 1,352 incidents of vandalism, harassment and physical assaults against Jewish individuals, property and community institutions in 2008, representing a 7 percent decline from the 1,460 incidents reported in 2007.

The Audit identified 37 physical assaults on Jewish individuals, 702 incidences of anti-Semitic vandalism, and 613 cases of harassment in 2008.  They included acts against high-profile Jewish community institutions and communal properties, such as the repeated vandalism of the San Francisco Holocaust Memorial, and the desecration of dozens of graves at a Jewish cemetery in Chicago with swastikas and hate group symbols.

Of the total 1,352 incidents, 42 percent occurred at homes, private buildings or businesses, and 23 percent took place in educational establishments, including public and private schools and universities, according to the Audit.

“It is encouraging that the number of anti-Semitic incidents continues to decline, but the sheer volume of incidents reported and the violent nature of many of the physical assaults is a reminder that we cannot be complacent,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.  “Had law enforcement not thwarted the alleged terrorist bombing plot against synagogues in Riverdale, New York, it would have been a horrific anti-Semitic attack.”

The 2008 Audit comprises data from 44 states and the District of Columbia, including official crime statistics as well as information provided to ADL’s regional offices by victims, law enforcement officers and community leaders.  The Audit identifies criminal acts, such as vandalism, violence and threats of violence, as well as non-criminal incidents of harassment and intimidation, including hate propaganda, leafleting and verbal slurs.

“The Audit is one barometer of anti-Semitism,” said Mr. Foxman.  “The explosive expansion of the Internet and social-networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube has become a new frontier for anti-Semitism, and so anti-Jewish expression is hard to quantify in this environment.  It’s here today, gone tomorrow, and back the next day.

“In 2008, the financial crisis brought about an increase in rhetoric targeting Jews, with letters in newspapers and on Web sites blaming Jews for the misdeeds of a select few, with Bernard Madoff topping the list,” added Mr. Foxman.  “Hate groups and anti-Semites used the global economic downturn to breathe new life into old myths of greedy and money-hungry American Jews, and these took on a life of their own on the Internet and in the real world.”

Anti-Semitic incidents last peaked in 2004, when the League reported 1,821 incidents in the U.S.

For reporting purposes, the Audit divides anti-Semitic incidents into three categories: Anti-Semitic Assaults, involving violence against Jewish individuals or those thought to be Jewish; Vandalism, such as property damage, cemetery desecration or anti-Semitic graffiti; and Harassment, including threats, slurs and activity by anti-Semitic hate groups:

• Assaults: A total of 37 anti-Semitic assaults were reported in 2008.  The assaults included attacks with baseball bats and other weapons, punching and rock-throwing.  In some cases, victims were hospitalized.

• Vandalism:  There were 702 cases of anti-Semitic vandalism reported in 2008, up from 612 cases in 2007.

• Harassment: A total of 613 incidents of anti-Semitic harassment were reported in 2008.  (In 2007, the categories of assaults and harassment were combined for reporting purposes, for a total of 745 incidents.  In 2008, the combined total of assaults and harassment was 650).

“The bad news is Jews continue to be the number one religion group targeted for hate,” said Glen S. Lewy, ADL National Chair.  “The good news is there’s a greater awareness within local Jewish communities that the potential for anti-Semitic activity should always be a concern. Communities have responded with heightened security and by partnering with law enforcement in an attempt to mitigate the threat.”

Continuing a longtime trend, the states with the highest totals were those with large Jewish populations.  The top four states accounted for 59 percent of the anti-Semitic incidents recorded by ADL.

The states with the highest totals were New Jersey (238, down from 247); California (226, up from 186); New York (207, down from 351); Florida (122, down from 127); Pennsylvania (97, down from 99); Massachusetts (52, down from 95); and Connecticut (38, down from 49).

Neo-Nazis

Some nit-wit going by “John Adams” has some odd crush on me. Everyday I keep getting spam comments from him. He claims I am an FBI informer. Actually, no I’m not. I have never been used by the FBI nor have I been paid by them. I have however, been a witness in their behalf against Neo-Nazis who commit illegal acts. “John Adams” is the typical Neo-Nazi coward. He spends his time online being a coward. I wish these Nazis would use their real names and face me in person instead of hiding behind a computer. Then again, like most, he has no life. What should I expect?

Warning to those who threaten me

All comments that contain threats will be given to the FBI. I could care less who likes me or who hates me. My blog was not created to make friends. I deal with Jewish History, such as lies against them and ect. I know many of the lies about the Jewish people  because I was guilty of much of it myself. My goal is to educate people about the Jewish people from the “Gentile” point of view.

As a Christian, I owe much of what I believe and follow to the Jewish people. If that upsets people, then so be it. I have already turned in threats in the past. And for those who don’t  know, action has been taken against certain people. And trust me, I don’t mind turning in more people. If people go to jail, so be it. I could care less. You want to make threats, deal with the FBI. I won’t tolerate them.

Israel Holds War Games

JERUSALEM  —  Israel’s air force held a large-scale exercise simulating war on several fronts with enemies that include Iran, Israeli defense officials said Friday.

The practice this week involved Israel’s entire air arm and was meant to prepare for an all-out war, including missile attacks aimed at Israeli cities, the officials said. It lasted four days, ending Thursday.

Israel periodically conducts such exercises. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the details of the exercise were not made public.

The military said it was part of its annual training program, using the word “routine” twice in a brief statement sent to reporters.

But it comes at a time of increasing friction surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, which Israel believes is aimed at producing a nuclear weapon it sees as an existential threat.

Israel has said it prefers to block the Iranian threat through diplomacy, but will not rule out a military strike.

The military said the exercise included both regular army personnel and reservists, releasing no further information. Israel plans a nationwide exercise next month simulating missile attacks aimed at civilians.

Iran test fires misslie

Iran test-fired a solid-fuel missile capable of reaching Israel or US bases in the Middle East today, drawing rebukes from western governments and forcing the abrupt cancellation of a diplomatic mission by Italy‘s foreign minister.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced the launch of the Sajjil-2 surface-to-surface missile in Semnan province, in northern Iran, claiming it landed “precisely on target”. The defence minister, Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, said the missile was “equipped with a new navigation system as well as precise and sophisticated sensors”.

Western officials confirmed the launch and said the Sajjil appeared to be a two-stage solid-fuel missile with a range of about 1,250 miles (2,000km). The Foreign Office said it “underlines profound concerns about Iran’s intentions and sends exactly the wrong signal to the region and the world at a time the international community is trying to engage Iran”.

The incident came two days after Barack Obama warned Iran had until the end of the year to respond to his diplomatic overtures and enter into serious, “good faith” negotiations over its nuclear programme. Iran insists the programme is for energy-generation purposes, but the UN security council has demanded Tehran suspend enrichment of uranium on the grounds that Iran has so far failed to convince the international community that its intentions are peaceful.

The launch led to the cancellation of a two-day visit to Iran by Italy’s Franco Frattini, who was close to boarding a plane to Tehran when he heard that Ahmadinejad insisted on meeting him in Semnan, the site of the launch.

The minister called off the whole trip, fearing Ahmadinejad would use it as a propaganda coup ahead of presidential elections next month.

The president and three challengers were officially approved today to take part in the vote by the electoral watchdog, the Guardian Council, out of 475 hopefuls.

The planned Frattini visit had been the source of considerable tension within Europe. The British and French governments had urged him not to go, arguing that it would help Ahmadinejad electorally and show a lack of western unity.

An earlier version of the Sajjil was tested in November last year. The Sajjil-2 appears to have a slightly longer range than the prototype. Mark Fitzpatrick, an analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said the development of the Sajjil missile was significant because of the type of fuel it used, rather than its range.

“To be able to build a solid-fuel missile of medium range represents a significant technological breakthrough,” Fitzpatrick said. “It is technically more difficult than a liquid-fuel missile, and militarily more significant because it is not as vulnerable to attack while being fuelled.”

Pope Benedict supports Muslims – just like the Pope supported Nazi Germany during WW II

What a shock that the current Catholic Pope supports Muslims and not Israel. For those who don’t recall, the Catholic “Church” and Pope also supported Hitler and Nazi Germany while millions of Jews were driven from their homes to suffer and die.

Speaking in Bethlehem, where he delivered his most sensitive speech yet of an eight-day tour of the Holy Land, Benedict XVI acknowledged the suffering of the Palestinian people following the establishment of Israel in 1948.

But he also urged moderation, telling Palestinians they should not use violence to further their cause.

Speaking later at the Aida refugee camp, he criticised the concrete security wall “towering over us”, saying it was “tragic” to see barriers erected between the two communities.

The Pope, who also celebrated mass in Manger Square in front of the ancient Church of the Nativity, believed to mark the birthplace of Jesus, sent a message of solidarity with moderate Palestinians such as Mahmoud Abbas, the Fatah leader and president of the Palestinian national authority, when he gave his support to proposals for a “two-state solution”.

“The Holy See supports the right of your people to a sovereign Palestinian homeland in the land of your forefathers, secure and at peace with its neighbours, within internationally recognised borders,” the Pope said.

“I know how much you have suffered and continue to suffer as a result of the turmoil that has afflicted this land for decades,” the Pope said.

“It is my earnest hope that the serious concerns involving security in Israel and the Palestinian territories will soon be allayed sufficiently to allow greater freedom of movement, especially with regard to contact between family members and access to the holy places.”

In remarks aimed at the many militant groups within the Palestinian community, the Pope said they should “resist temptations to resort to acts of violence”.

Israel was nominally behind the two-state plan until the recent election of a Right-wing government led by Benjamin Netanyahu which has said it is reviewing its position on the issue. The Pope is due to meet the Israeli prime minister on Thursday.

After two days in Israel the Pope had to cross into the occupied West Bank where Bethlehem is located.

This meant he had to pass through the 10-yard-high concrete wall built by Israel around Bethlehem.

Deemed illegal under international law, Israel has nevertheless pressed on with its construction on the grounds that it deters suicide bombings and other security threats.

In the afternoon he spoke at the Aida refugee camp, one of several housing Palestinian families driven from their homes through the creation of Israel in the second half of the 20th century.

Israel had forced the organisers of the event at Aida to move the stage so it would not be dominated by the security wall but this did not stop the pontiff criticising the barrier.

“Towering over us … is a stark reminder of the stalemate that relations between Israelis and Palestinians seem to have reached – the wall,” the Pope said.

“In a world where more and more borders are being opened up – to trade, to travel, to movement of peoples, to cultural exchanges – it is tragic to see walls still being erected.”

Speaking after his visit, he issued a message of hope. “I have seen, adjoining the camp and overshadowing much of Bethlehem, the wall that intrudes into your territories, separating neighbours and dividing families,” he said.

“Although walls can easily be built, we all know that they do not last for ever. They can be taken down.”

Jew Hater David Duke now living in Austria – owns birdwatching business

Mr Duke, who has previously denied Adolf Hitler used gas chambers in the holocaust, has rented a house by the Zeller lake near the city.

Local Green Party politician Karl Oellinger said Mr Duke roamed the Austrian Alps taking snaps of birds and wildlife and selling them on the internet.

“He’s registered as living in Salzburg and although I can’t check official files I have it on good information he has lived there for four or five years,” he said.

“The Austrian police have known he’s been here all along. Apparently he can live here unchallenged as he travels to other countries to help the far-right movement.”

Mr Duke was recently deported from the neighbouring Czech Republic after promoting one of his books in Prague.

But Government officials have said he is free to stay in Austria as long as he does not break any local laws.

Alexander Marakovits, Interior Minister spokesman, said: “As a US citizen he can, as a tourist, stay three months at a time without a visa. And currently there is no evidence of criminal acts.”

Mr Duke said he lived a quiet life in Austria: “I’m not in Austria for any political activities. I just come to Austria to relax – the mountains are beautiful. The Austrian Alps are just beautiful. There’s beauty all over the world.

“I’m a writer, photographer, a speaker, I do all sorts of things.”

British historian David Irving was jailed in Austria for almost a year for “glorifying and identifying with the German Nazi Party” under the Verbotsgesetz law in 2006.
