Adam means “white man” – no it doesn’t lol
Christian Identity people will fight you day and night claiming Adam means “white man” or “Aryan’. I’m white and I can tell you the following – Adam does not mean neither.
Their whole debate is based on this, taken from the Strong’s Concordance. They use the meaning 119 where Adam comes from the Hebrew word “aw-dam” which simply means “to show blood (in the face), i.e. flush or turn rosy:–be (dyed, made) red (ruddy).” They claim only white people can blush. I work with a guy who is half-Jewish. He can blush. Also, the meaning clearly doesn’t say “white man”. If God wanted Adam to mean “white man”, why didn’t He do that then?
Anyways, what is fun about Christian Identity people is the fact they never quote the rest of the meaning of the word Adam in Hebrew. The word Adam does have more than one meaning. For instance, 120 in the same Concordance means “a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.):–X another, + hypocrite, + common sort, X low, man (mean, of low degree), person.” I guess God gave Adam the meaning hypocrite since He foresaw losers like Jessica Gray and Jay Faber lying about His Scripture – lol.
Meaning 121 of Adam taken from the same Concordance means “name of the first man, also of a place in Palestine.” Yet you never see CI people quote this. Adam to them ALWAYS has to mean “white man” even though that is NEVER what it meant in the first place!
Unlike them, I don’t make up the meanings for Hebrew or Greek words. Why? I’m not God. I have no authority to do so. By making up Biblical meanings you are teaching SIN.
